The second annual Great Ames Adventure Race (GAAR) will be held Sunday, August 31st at Ada Hayden Heritage Park in north Ames. Individuals or teams up to four will compete on a course consisting of a three-mile canoe race, followed by a 15-mile bike ride and finishing with a 5K run. The Story County Amateur Radio Club and Story County ARES are providing communications for the race. Amateur radio operators will be stationed around the race course and provide status reports and emergency communications. The race begins at 7:30 am and should be finished by late morning.
