I got General when still at ISU and a summer intern at Norand Corp in Cedar Rapids -- My Elmer, N1TIO (Joe Dusio), got me into the code quick method of learning morse -- I used my hard earned intern cash to obtain a Yaesu FT-840 as my first HF rig. I used an MFJ tuner and random wire. I obtained Extra in 2004 while full-time at Motorola in Fort Worth Texas. Presently I'm an IT security manager at ISU, my radio interests are in MARS, Winlink, APRS, FT-8 digital, LoRa, and HF mesh networks.
