The next meeting of the Story County Amateur Radio Club will be at 7:30 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2013. The meeting will be in Conference Room D next to Bessie Meyers Auditorium on the first floor of Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC). The closest parking is in the lot north of the ER and ambulance garage. Enter through the North Door where MGMC meets McFarland Clinic.
In January 2014 there will be a major DXpedition to one of the rarest DX entities in the world: Amsterdam Island, in the South Indian Ocean. Details can be seen at http://www.amsterdamdx.org/
As a preview, the program for the October SCARC meeting will be a video about the 2005 FT5XO DXpedition to Kerguelen Island, another French Island in the same part of the world as Amsterdam Island. Interestingly, the ship that was used in this DXpedition is the same one that was used for the South Orkney DXpedition in 2011 and that will be used for the Amsterdam Island DXpedition.
